Medical Imaging Center and SIAE Gigabit microwave backhaul system

PHOENIX-BASED MEDICAL IMAGING CENTER IMPLEMENTS SIAE MICROELETTRONICA GIGABIT MICROWAVE BACKHAUL SYSTEMS

ALFOPlus2 delivers fiber-equivalent full-duplex gigabit connections at multi-mile distances for demanding high bandwidth medical imaging applications

December 6, 2016, Dallas, TX  –  SIAE MICROELECTTRONICA, Inc. a leading supplier and innovator of licensed microwave and millimeter wave backhaul solutions announced today that Southwest LAN Connections (SW LAN), a wireless technology construction company with more than 25 years in microwave engineering and a SIAE MICROELETTRONICA Diamond Certified Value Added Reseller, has implemented its ALFOPlus2 RF multicore backhaul system for a large medical imaging center in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metro area. The implementation of the gigabit wireless system on the network backbone replaces leased lined 100 Mbps fiber. As applications across the network consumed more bandwidth, SW LAN’s client looked for a more robust solution that would provide full-duplex gigabit throughput while still maintaining the critical high reliability connection.

With that in mind, Rich Gonzales and his team at Southwest LAN Connections looked for a solution to upgrade this critical backbone connection. Given the 7.1-mile distance between locations, they determined that the solution needed to be in the licensed microwave bands, and provide 1 Gbps full-duplex capacity. After considering alternatives, Southwest LAN chose SIAE MICROELETTRONICA’s 11 GHz ALFOPlus2 system for this application. Utilizing the most advanced RF-multicore technology and modulation of 4096QAM, ALFOPlus2 yields over 1 Gbps full-duplex in a single all-outdoor architecture and provides the availability and bandwidth needed to transport high resolution medical imaging files. The ultra-low latency also allows seamless voice and data connections. ALFOPlus2 offers the carrier-grade, high quality construction required in the extreme desert environments of Arizona. The expertise of SW LAN allowed for the system to be operational in a few days. SW LAN anticipates a return on this investment for their client within 18 months, allowing the user to reap the cost savings of tens of thousands of dollars for many years to come.

“Providing reliable, ultra-high capacity wireless solutions for mission critical, bandwidth-hungry wireless applications is a need and demand in today's wireless markets”, said Rich Gonzales, president of Southwest LAN Connections. “Moving to a gigabit wireless solution proved to be more cost effective than upgrading the existing leased line. ALFOplus2 provides ten-fold growth capacity needed to the imaging center while matching the value proposition of fiber at a fraction of the cost. SIAE MICROELETTRONICA, with the industry’s most advanced next-generation RF Multicore Carrier Grade Wireless platform and their staff of industry veterans, was the clear choice for our project and goals”.

“Expanding backbone capacity using gigabit microwave systems is an affordable, no-risk option available to help healthcare entities save on operational costs,” said Augustino Lucenti, vice-president of sales for SIAE Microelettronica, Inc. “Our ALFOPlus2 yields multi-gigabit connectivity paired with the long link distances where e-band solutions can’t go. We are proud to partner with Southwest LAN Connections as they look to provide these innovative solutions to their clients”.
